HOW IT WORKS

Everything the contracts actually do, and nothing they do not. If this page and the Solidity disagree, the Solidity wins — it is in /contracts.

Ethereum MainnetFULLY ON-CHAIN ART
01

OVERVIEW

UNEST is an ERC-20 token whose holders are issued fully on-chain generative NFTs — pixel chicks. The token contract is also the controller: it issues and burns the NFTs as balances move, splits the swap tax, and pays rewards in ETH.

  • UNEST — the ERC-20 token, and the controller.
  • EGG — the ERC-721 NFT. One per unit of holding capacity.
  • CHICK — a revealed egg: six traits and a reward weight.
  • UnestRenderer — the art and metadata, generated on-chain.
  • UnestHook — the Uniswap v4 hook: the swap tax, buy credit and the buyback.
02

THE TOKEN

UNEST is a standard ERC-20 with one unusual habit: transfers move NFTs.

  • Initial supply: 100,000,000,000
  • Decimals: 18
  • Unit of capacity: 50,000,000 UNEST per egg
  • Supply only ever falls — reveals and buybacks burn.

When you send UNEST to another wallet, the contract moves as many of your eggs as the transfer covers and the receiver can hold. Anything you can no longer back is burned on the spot.

03

HOW EGGS APPEAR

Your capacity is your balance divided by 50M. Buy through the pool and the controller issues eggs up to that capacity. There is no mint button, and there is nothing to claim.

capacity = balance / 50,000,000
eggs held ≤ capacity
04

REVEAL

A new egg is sealed. At mint it commits to a block a fixed distance in the future, and its traits are drawn from that block hash — so nobody, including the deployer, can know or steer what an egg will become.

seed = keccak256(blockhash(targetBlock), tokenId, nftAddress)
  • Only the owner can reveal.
  • Reveal burns 2M UNEST.
  • It must happen within 256 blocks of the target.
  • Miss that window and revealing books a new target block instead — then reveal again.
05

REWARDS

A swap is charged twice, and the two are different money. The pool takes its ordinary Uniswap LP fee, which goes to whoever provides liquidity — the protocol never touches it. Separately, the hook takes a 2% tax in ETH on both sides of the swap and forwards it to the token. Only that 2% is split.

  • 95% — chick holders
  • 3% — official address
  • 2% — buyback and burn

The holder slice is divided by reward weight across revealed chicks. Claim with `claim()` for everything, `claim(tokenId)` for one, or `claimBatch(ids)` for a chosen set. Rewards are ETH, not tokens.

06

REWARD WEIGHT

Every revealed chick starts at 100. Each of its six traits adds a bonus depending on how rare the rolled value is. The contract caps the total at 300.

weight = 100 + Σ bonus(trait)
weight = min(weight, 300)
  • Uncommon +5
  • Rare +15
  • Legendary +35
  • Mythic +75

Six mythic rolls would total 550, so the cap bites well before a perfect set. Your share is your weight over the sum of every revealed egg.

07

BURNS

UNEST leaves circulation in three ways, all of them permanent:

  • Reveal — 2M UNEST per egg.
  • 2% of the swap tax buys UNEST from the pool and destroys it.
  • Rewards attached to a burned egg are redirected into the buyback.

2,000 eggs is what the supply allows today. Because supply only falls, that ceiling falls with it.

08

POOL & LIQUIDITY

The pool is ETH / UNEST on Uniswap v4 with UnestHook attached. The hook takes the tax as the swap settles and tracks buy credit inside the swap, so the controller knows a real purchase happened rather than inferring it from balances afterwards. There is no custom router: you trade on Uniswap directly.

The pool itself is created by hand through the Uniswap app. The hook does not hardcode a fee or a tick spacing — `beforeInitialize` records whatever key that app produced, once, and only the founder address can trigger it. Everything the site shows about the pool is read back from there.

09

CONTRACTS

Every address is read from configuration. Until a real deployment is published, entries render as placeholders and say NOT CONFIGURED. No address is ever invented for display.

The Solidity for every contract ships in the /contracts folder of this repository, so you can diff what is deployed against what is published.

  • UNESTUnest.sol

The token, and the controller: it issues and burns eggs as balances move, splits the tax, and pays rewards in ETH.

  • UNEST EGGUnestNFT.sol

The collection. Commit–reveal metadata seeded from a block hash. Deployed by the token constructor.

  • RENDERERUnestRenderer.sol

The art. Six traits and a full pixel SVG generated from the seed. No server, no IPFS, no image files.

  • UNEST HOOKUnestHook.sol

Takes the 2% ETH tax on both sides of every swap, tracks buy credit so the token knows a real purchase happened, and executes the buyback. It does not gate adding or removing liquidity.

  • POOL MANAGERUniswap v4

The canonical Uniswap v4 PoolManager holding the ETH/UNEST pool. Not deployed by this project.

  • OFFICIAL—

Receives the 3% official share of the swap tax. It is also the only address that can call Recall() on the token.

  • FOUNDER—

The hook’s founder: the only address that can register the pool, and the only one that can call Recall() on the hook.

THE SIX TRAITS

TWELVE VALUES EACH

Drawn from the reveal seed. The percentages are the real drop rates, taken from the threshold table in UnestRenderer._pick — not an estimate. The last value of every trait is the mythic roll: 1 in 100, and worth +75 weight.

FAQ

COMMON QUESTIONS

How do I get an egg?

Buy UNEST. Once your balance reaches 50M, the contract issues an egg to your wallet on its own. There is no mint transaction.

Do I have to lock my tokens?

No. Nothing is staked or escrowed. Your UNEST stays liquid and you can sell any time — doing so simply reduces how many eggs your balance can back.

What happens if I sell?

Eggs you can no longer back are burned automatically by the token contract, newest first. Any unclaimed rewards on them go to the buyback.

What does reveal cost?

2M UNEST, burned. You need that spare on top of the 50M backing each egg you hold, or the burn would cost you an egg.

Can the team pick the rare ones?

Not at mint. Traits come from the hash of a block chosen when the egg is issued and not yet mined, so nobody — deployer included — can steer what an egg will become, and only the owner can reveal it.

So the traits cannot be gamed at all?

That is not the same question. Once the target block is mined its hash is public, so anyone can compute an egg's traits off-chain before paying to reveal. If you do not like them, you can wait out the 256-block window and call reveal to book a fresh target — that path burns nothing, because the fee is only charged on a reveal that lands. Rerolling costs gas and roughly an hour each time. It is a real property of the contracts and worth knowing about.

Is the liquidity locked?

No. This build has no locker contract. Liquidity is added by hand through Uniswap and whoever added it can remove it. Check the position on-chain before you decide anything.

Can anyone take the ETH the contract is holding?

The token has a Recall(address) function callable only by `official`, and the hook has one callable only by `founder`. Either sends that contract’s whole ETH balance wherever the caller says, outside the normal split. The comments call it emergency-only; the code does not limit it to emergencies.

I missed the reveal window. Is my egg ruined?

No. Block hashes are only readable for 256 blocks, so past that the contract books a new target block. Call reveal once to reschedule, then again to reveal.

Where is the art stored?

Nowhere. UnestRenderer generates the SVG and the metadata from the seed every time they are requested. There is no image file, no IPFS pin and no server to fail.

What are the rewards paid in?

ETH, from the 2% swap tax. Not tokens, and not on a schedule — you claim whatever has accrued whenever you like.

Is it audited?

No. Nothing on this site claims otherwise. Read the contracts, or have someone you trust read them, before you interact.

BEFORE YOU TOUCH ANYTHING

RISK

UNEST is experimental software on Ethereum Mainnet. Read this as if it were written for someone about to lose money, because it was.

  • TOTAL LOSS IS POSSIBLEUNEST can lose all of its value and the eggs with it. Only spend what you are prepared to lose entirely.
  • EGGS BURN AUTOMATICALLYDropping below your backing destroys eggs without asking. This is designed behaviour in the token contract, not a failure.
  • A REVEAL CANNOT BE UNDONEOnce a reveal lands the fee is burned and the traits are written permanently — there is no refund and no changing them afterwards. Before it lands is a different matter: see the reroll note in the docs.
  • TRAITS CAN BE REROLLEDThe seed becomes computable as soon as the target block is mined, and rescheduling past the blockhash window costs only gas and time. Rare chicks are therefore not evenly distributed among patient and impatient owners.
  • LIQUIDITY IS NOT LOCKEDNo contract in this build holds or locks the LP. Liquidity is added manually through Uniswap and can be removed by whoever provided it. Verify the position yourself.
  • THE ETH BALANCE CAN BE RECALLEDRecall(address) on the token (official only) and on the hook (founder only) sends that contract’s entire ETH balance anywhere the caller chooses, outside the 95 / 3 / 2 split. Undistributed fees are exposed to it.
  • REWARDS MAY BE NOTHINGThe tax only exists when people swap. A quiet pool pays nothing, however rare your chick is. No rate is promised anywhere on this site.
  • NOT AUDITEDThe contracts may contain bugs. No audit is claimed. If one is ever published, it will appear here with the evidence attached.
  • NO CUSTODY, NO RECOVERYThis interface never holds your keys or your assets, and nobody can reverse a transaction you signed.
